OK, then, cat /var/log/NetworkManager | System shows repeated entries like:

Jun  1 08:20:44 workstation6l NetworkManager: <info>  Activation (wlan0)
starting connection 'System >manus manum lavat< (wlan0)'

While this raises your "assumption" to "proven fact", it is no explanation of
how this connection got elevated to "System" in the first place, neither do you
give any information on how to demote the connection to non-system.
