No, it's no bug that you have to kill apps using the sound device. They must
be killed to unload the modules. That's why I suggested to go to runlevel 3 at
first.
So you mean that "Analog/Digital" is off and this must be turned on? OK, then
I misunderstood the situation. Basically, this switch should be off for analog
outputs. That is, the meaning of the switch is swapped on your device.
Could you attach the output of "hwinfo --sound"?
Also attach the generated file via alsa-info.sh in /usr/share/doc/packages/alsa
with --no-upload option, too.
