https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=396230 Summary: KNetworkManager does not offer any warnings if wireless radio is turned off Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: generalpenguin89@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- using: NetworkManager-kde-0.7r812889-2 If one starts OpenSuSE 11 with the wireless radio turned off via the hardware RF-kill button, KNetworkManager will not work and will not provide the user any notice that the radio was turned off. Steps to reproduce: 1.) Start OpenSuSE. 2.) Hit the button that turns off radio. 3.) Wait for KDE to start. 4.) Try to connect to a wireless network. Actual results: Nothing happens, leaving the user frustrated. Expected results: Some kind of warning or explanation should be given to the user that the wireless radio is turned off, _or_ the wireless icon should not appear at all in the system tray.
