I think I know why resapplet isn't showing your resolution (Intel driver, the
old VGA/LVDS problem).  I'll try to come up with a fix for this.  It may also
be the reason why rotation doesn't work.

Regarding gnome-display-properties, we don't have an applet for it right now :(
 I'll work on it in the near-term future.
