One way to cheat with your dpi would be to change the values for
DisplaySize in /etc/X11/xorg.conf a little bit. For example, let’s
say you want 115 dpi:
120/115 * 303 = 316
120/115 * 189 = 197
i.e. you would need "DisplaySize 316 197".
Another, easier way to change your dpi for all fonts without
lying to the X-server is to add the following rule to your
~/.fonts.conf file:
<match target="pattern" >
<edit mode="assign" name="dpi" >
<double>115</double>
</edit>
</match>
You can also select 115 dpi in the KDE control centre, but this sets
only the X-resource "Xft.dpi", i.e. after doing that xrdb will
show you this:
mfabian@magellan:~$ xrdb -query | grep Xft.dpi
Xft.dpi: 115
mfabian@magellan:~$
But as KDE sets this X-resource when the KDE session starts,
you would still get 120 dpi when you start something else, eg. a
Gnome session, twm, whatever, ...
The rule in ~/.fonts.conf to set the dpi has higher priority than the
X-resource and will override it. And it will also be used by other
desktops than KDE.
