I installed Beta3 from scratch yesterday (no upgrade). I made a default
installation, no options selected, just kde4. With the radeon driver now the
screen stays black as the bottom of a tar pit in a moonless night. But I could
switch to a console and I installed the fglrx driver from a console. This
driver works.
Next I decided to exercise the laptop and do a full update. 807 packages were
updated, which means that the system was up for about 4 hours without freezes.
Unfortunately, the kernel was updated and at reboot a kernel bug (that I am
filing now) stops the laptop. For this reason I can't provide logs.
It seems that the radeon driver is a serious show stopper on this laptop.
