diff of root and user Xorg.0.log files
Devs,
After updating to the latest kdelibs in the updates repository where the
update was from kdelibs3-3.5.7-72.6 to kdelibs3-3.5.7-72.9 only root can start
kde either from kdm or from the console with startx. When logging in as root,
everything works just fine, just like it always has. However, when any regular
user attempts to login, the splash screen just hangs with the little animation
spinning round-and-round forever requiring a kill of the xserver with
ctrl+alt+backspace. After killing the xserver, the kdm menu login menu
reappears as usual and root can log back in just fine.
The list provided little insight except to confirm that others had seen the
problem and as a work-around downgraded to kdelibs3-3.5.7-72.6, etc... to solve
the problem.
I would rather help find out what the problem is and fix it than simply
downgrade because there is a problem with the latest release. The current
kdelibs3 components installed are:
kdelibs3-devel-3.5.7-72.9
kdelibs3-32bit-3.5.7-72.9
kdelibs3-default-style-3.5.7-72.9
kdelibs3-arts-3.5.7-72.9
kdelibs3-3.5.7-72.9
kdelibs3-doc-3.5.7-72.9
kdelibs3-default-style-32bit-3.5.7-72.9
A diff of the Xorg.0.log files shows some differences between rood and the
user login, but nothing striking, at least to me. Here is the diff:

here. Thanks.
