with this gcc:

$ rpm -q --changelog gcc43 | head
* Thu Apr 10 2008 rguenther@xxxxxxx
- Update to gcc-4_3-branch head (r134138). [ggo#35833, ggo#35900]
* Thu Apr 10 2008 ro@xxxxxxx
- added baselibs.conf file to build xxbit packages
for multilib support
* Tue Apr 01 2008 rguenther@xxxxxxx
- Update to gcc-4_3-branch head (r133790).
- Remove use of %run_ldconfig.

running 'make' in the attached causes a very odd, different behavior with -O2
(only x86_64)

with this gcc:

$ rpm -q --changelog gcc43 | head
* Fri Apr 25 2008 rguenther@xxxxxxx
- Update to gcc-4_3-branch head (r134659). [ggo#35773, ggo#35907, ggo#35695,
ggo#36008, ggo#36015, ggo#36017]
- Add patch to fix latent aliasing bug.

* Thu Apr 10 2008 rguenther@xxxxxxx
- Update to gcc-4_3-branch head (r134138). [ggo#35833, ggo#35900]

it succeeds.

Was this fixed deliberately ? :-) [ thanks to Noel for tracking this down ]
