[Bug 386992] New: Sometimes stale entries in / media remain and cause problems when remounting the same device
- From: bugzilla_noreply@xxxxxxxxxx

Summary: Sometimes stale entries in /media remain and cause
problems when remounting the same device
Product: openSUSE 11.0
Version: Factory
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Minor
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Hotplug
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: one_way@xxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Under certain conditions the mounting points/drawers in "/media" for removable
media are not removed. If I then insert the same removable medium once again,
HAL (or which component is responsible) creates another dir with appended "-1".
E.g. my ipod is usually mounted in "/media/IPOD". Sometimes this drawer already
exists and therefore HAL has to create "/media/IPOD-1" (making Amarok stumble).
The stale drawers have to be removed by hand.
This mostly happens after some kinds of "unclean" shutdown while the device is
still mounted (playing with suspend/resume, or sometimes after certain factory
updates the computer simply doesn't react to "reboot").
Maybe the "/media"-drawer should be kind of cleaned up when HAL intializes?
