I just discovered some additional information: this only happens if I run my
Dell docked on the MediaBase (which is how I normally run it). If I boot it up
undocked, then touchpad works just fine regardless of what I do with the power
cord. The problem only shows up if it is docked. The only difference in between
dmesg content that I can see is that when it is docked, at the moment I unplug
it, the message "ACPI: docking" appears in dmesg. Other than that, no
difference in messages that I can find.
