Yes rpc.idmapd not being killed or incorrectly reporting 'status' is causing a
problem. I've setup HA-NFS services, active/passive, on openSUSE 10.3 and when
the secondary system takes over services the heartbeat service checks the
'status' of all the resources it's responsible for, unless said resource comes
back as 'unused' it will skip starting that services. As you can see in an
HA-NFS environment this is extremely undesirable behavior, especially when the
NFS clients are diskless workstations!
