When using "noacpi" instead of "irqpoll" it will NOT boot, but it will boot
successfully when using "noapic" instead of "irqpoll".  During an unsuccessful
boot there is NO /var/log/boot.msg created.  I am including the
/var/log/boot.msg from a successful boot using "noapic" (just in case it might
be helpful).

I should add that the failure occurs while executing the boot.udev bootup
script.  I plan to explore udev a bit further when I get time today.
