https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=381304 Summary: firewire/ieee1394 : using GOF repeaters does not work anymore with some adapters Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: phdm@macqel.be QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Created an attachment (id=208943) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=208943) Fix the S800 repeaters problem With older kernel (Suse 9.0 e.g) using S800 Glass Optical Fiber repeaters with firewire cards worked perfectly. With 10.3, and 10.2 also, it does not work anymore : one is unable to see any firewire peripheral connected at the other end of the GOF repeaters, and any program attempting to access firewire hardware is blocked and unkillable. A whole thread discussing that problem is here : http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=20080309220225.GA3411%40netgate.macqel&forum_name=linux1394-devel Here is the tiny patch that has been approved by the firewire/ieee1394 maintainer for inclusion in 2.6.26. It is perfectly applicable to 2.6.22. Can it be added to the kernel patches of 10.3, so that a next online_update of the kernel does not break my running machines ?
