https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=380706 Summary: UMTS dialup with NetworkManager is not really usable. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: seife@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: gp@novell.com, hschaa@novell.com Found By: Development I tried to dial up with my UMTS card Novatel XU870 card which is detected by NM: root@stoetzler:~# lsusb|grep Nova Bus 008 Device 002: ID 1410:1430 Novatel Wireless Apr 17 12:20:00 stoetzler NetworkManager: <info> ttyUSB3: Device is fully-supported using driver 'option'. Apr 17 12:20:00 stoetzler NetworkManager: <info> (ttyUSB3): exported as /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_1410_1430_noserial_if0_serial_usb_3 Apr 17 12:20:04 stoetzler NetworkManager: <info> Deactivating device ttyUSB3. So i tried to dial in using nm-applet. This just fails silently. Guessing that it might be the missing PIN i searched for ways to input a PIN for my SIM card, but could not find one. So i set the PIN with "comgt -d /dev/ttyUSB3" and tried again. This time i could dial in, but i still had no way of choosing my provider, configuring the APN to be used etc., so this is not really usable IMVHO. But not having the possibility to enter a PIN is a real killer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
