https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=377544
Summary: xdm and kdm quit resulting fallback to console login
because of randr error
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: geroxp@xxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
The execution of
xrandr --newmode $line
in
/etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup
causes xdm / kdm to quit because randr reports wrong mode. The mode comes from
/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and is the default mode given in the comment of
that file.
The error occured after a security update of the system. Something must have
gone wrong with that update. However, the startup scripts should handle such
errors and give at least a meaningfull error message in /var/log/messages or
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.
