You mentioned "YaST", "client-only", "configuring the queue", "cups manager", "connecting a different usb printer", "using samba", "add SMB printer", and "cups-autoconfig" which is almost anything which is possible regarding printer setup but without information how I can reproduce it. For me it seems it is not a bug in our software (therefore I close it as WORKSFORME) but that you set up a mixed-up (i.e. wrong) configuration.
Sorry I wasn't clear about it but I myself was quite confused with what went down so I couldn't really describe it. What went down is... 1. I first had network printer configured via SMB which worked fine 2. Then, I switched the connection to client-only cups, which worked fine too. 3. I needed to use a scanner so plugged in a multifunction device which also includes a printer to the USB port. Scanner worked fine. I didn't do anything about the printer. After done using it, I disconnected it. 4. After a while, I tried to print but there was no printer queue configured. I went to yast printer configuration which was showing the queue configured in #2 alright. I removed the cups printer which, after restarting yast printer, showed SMB printer from #1 and USB printer from #3. I deleted them and added back cups client only configuration but still no queue. I repeated several times but it was the same. So, basically, cups client only configuration was broken by plugging in a USB printer. Sounds like a bug to me.
