--- Comment #17 from Clayton Cornell 2008-03-30 10:10:57 MST ---
I can run 10.2 (using kernel 2.6.18) with no errors or problems. When I
attempted to install 10.3, I got a repeatable kernel panic on boot which was
resolved by using the noapic boot parameter. This allowed me to actually boot
the 10.3 install disk, and get further into the install.
I did manage an install that was fatally unstable. The symptoms are perfectly
described in bug 331610 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331610 I
followed that bug progress and when the patched kISO was released I tried it
out. This patched kernel allowed me to boot and I no longer had the errors
described in bug 331610 - I still used the noapic boot option though (mainly
because it failed previously and noapic solved the issue).
I just tried booting with no boot options, and I was able to boot the debug
kISO with no errors and all drives on all SATA controllers are seen.
I'm a little baffled why the default kernel panics.. but the debug kISO kernel
doesn't... or why with the first patched kernel provided in bug 331610 still
gave me problems.
For reference... this is the output of cat /proc/interrupts after booting
without using the noapic option. Also attached is the boot.msg log, again, not
using the noapic option.

I am fine with closing this bug as Invalid/Worksforme or whatever. I will try
to install 10.3, and see how far I get. If I still have issues, I can open a
new bug. Thanks for your patience and help.
