Ok i was finally able to get 2.6.25-rc2 to compile, it does not suspend either.

M.S. To test I am now just using echo mem > /sys/power/state

With opensuse 2.6.24-6 the backlight switches off, with 2.6.25-rc2 vanilla it
does not.
