https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=373554 Summary: Do not re-sort listed packages automatically Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 3 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: funtasyspace@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I discovered an annoying bug/feature with the new QT4 based YaST2 Software Management module. Here's a description my most used workflow for installing software using YaST: - I want to install some KDE4 packages. Therefore I select Filter -> Repositories and select the KDE4 repository. - Next I want to quickly check, if there are newer versions of packages that are already installed. Therefore I click on the header of the first column in the package list on the right side to sort the package list by installed packages first. - Next I usually right click the package list and select "All in this list" -> "Update if newer version available". - Often I want to install additional packages by scrolling through the list of available packages in the repository and saying "This sounds like an interesting package I want to try out!". So I mark the additional packages for installation. Here's the problem with the new QT4 based implementation: If I have sorted the package list the way I described it above, the list gets re-sorted automatically as soon as I mark a package for installation and the cursor is placed at the top of the package list to the re-sorted package I marked for installation. If I would like to install only one package this wouldn't hurt, but often I want to install several packages. Therefore I have to always scroll and search again the position in the package list where I was last. So here's my suggestion: Do not automatically re-sort the listed packages when the flag in the first column changes. This would be the way it was with the previous package management on openSUSE 10.3. If the user wants to re-sort the package list, he can do so by clicking twice on the column header. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
