The rpm error message is: file /srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps from install of struts-webapps-tomcat5-1.2.9-108 conflicts with file from package tomcat55-5.5.23-113.3 The error's root cause is obvious: Both tomcat55 (version 5.5.23-113.3.noarch from the update repository) and struts-webapps-tomcat5 (version 1.2.9-108.noarch from the DVD) have the file /srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps. But in tomcat55 it is a symlink to /usr/share/tomcat55/webapps, in struts-webapps-tomcat5 it is a real directory: # rpm -qlv -p struts-webapps-tomcat5-1.2.9-108.noarch.rpm |grep 'base/webapps$' drwxr-xr-x 2 tomcat tomcat 0 Sep 22 2007 /srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps # rpm -qlv -p tomcat55-5.5.23-113.3.noarch.rpm |grep 'base/webapps' lrw-r--r-- 1 root root 27 Feb 11 21:27 /srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps -> /usr/share/tomcat55/webapps That leads to a conflict, thus struts-webapps-tomcat5 cannot be installed.
