A better approach will be if the Software Manager module just have a button to
force updates when needed. That way, if a repository is not marked for auto
update, it will not be updated during module startup, thus speeding the things,
and when needed, one can just invoke the refresh from inside the Software
Manager, and not by going back to the Repository manager and refreshing each
repository one by one.
I would go even a little bit further, and combine the Repository and Software
manager modules, as I do not see real reason for them to be separated. This
approach is used in smart and synaptic, and I find it very convenient.
Cheers
