In reply to Comment #29:
To KDE3:
You're right: There are global settings which seem to "catch" the key events:
This way, "home" and "search" for example (and some other key events) are
handeled by the KDE framework, and for this reason the key events don't "reach"
the applications (and there, in the applications like kwrite, I had tried to
assign the shortcuts). This is handled by
kcontrol -> Regional & Accessibilty -> Input Actions
So I think I'll get this working just by configuring KDE well. Thanks for the
hint.
To KDE4:
Yes, that's really weird. I've verified with xev that I get the right keysysm -
that's working. For me, this is a problem of the KDE4 framework. The problem
occures with all KDE4 applications (well, at least with some that I've tested),
independently if I run the KDE4 application under a KDE4 desktop or under a
KDE3 desktop. Vice versa KDE3 applications run always fine, independently if
the run under a KDE3 or under a KDE4 desktop.
PS: The shortcut problem in KDE4 is the same in the KDE4 applications and in
the KDE4 framework: With kcontrol -> Advanced -> Input Actions I get the same
ugly results as in the KDE4 applications.
So I asume this is a special KDE4 problem. Should I report as such?
