I've tried the updated xkeyboard-config package. Now all the "normal" keys are
working fine again. However, none of the multimedia keys works.
When I try to assign shortcuts with a KDE4 application, then the application
recognize most of the multimedia keys as Meta+Strg+Alt+Umschalt+(symbol like a
square) -> in English Meta+Control+Alt+Caps+(symbol like a square). When I do
the same with a KDE3 application, then the application doesn't recognize the
key and assigns nothing.
I don't know much about X and keyboard input - but when I understood you right,
this is just a problem of correctly mapping the "key codes" to the
corresponding "meaning", right?
So I could make a list of all keys on the keyboard and the corresponding codes
(using showkey or xev or whatever application you think is suitable). Would
that help you?
