Fist suggestion, why do you do a new installation, when you really want
update functionality. Update will search for your fstab and will never
repartition your system.
Need y2log file to determine why yast2 suggests to change partition table
in your case. As default we do not search for fstab files when "New
Installation",
is selected, since it would involve mounting of all block devices present in
the
system which would be quite time consuming on system with many
disks/partitions.
Of course you can tell YaST2 to search for fstab files in Expert partitioner.
This functionality is present under lower right button (labeled "Expert").
The functionality you want is under "Import Mount Points from Existing
/etc/fstab".
