https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=366510 Summary: kiwi: allow exceptions to be specified within split section Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: System Imaging AssignedTo: ms@novell.com ReportedBy: ms@novell.com QAContact: adrian@novell.com Found By: --- I don't think I was clear enough. I would like to make the entire /var/ directory tree "temporary" (because I don't want to figure out exactly which files/dirs in /var need to be writeable), but specify exceptions to it that are read-only (because I want changes in these files to persist when I do updates). Example: <split> <temporary> <!-- make entire /var tree [rw] in tmpfs --> <file name="/var"/> </temporary> <read-only> <!-- EXCEPT these files/dirs should be read-only --> <file name="/var/lib/rpm/*"/> <file name="/var/lib/locatedb"/> </read-only> </split> Sorry if I'm being thick, but I don't see how I can achieve this so simply as Kiwi exists today. The alternative is listing all the subdirs of /var/ in <temporary>, then all the subdirs of /var/lib, etc..., a tedious, error-prone process that will miss several vagaries of different OSes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
