(I will try to attach hald.log) I have also tried stopping hald entirely and trying to start upsd, but that still gives the same errors. I'm not sure why the nut ups stuff isn't managing to talk to the ups. It may well be that the ups would work fine if there was a GUI and the hal freedesktop stuff, but this is a server with no GUI. I have managed to get a same model ups to work on a suse 10.2 machine by compiling the 2.2.0 source from the nut website.
