We should add (or replace) with something "cool". For starters, we could add the backgrounds that Novell produces (http://www.novell.com/company/logo/index.html?#graphics). Also, perhaps we could add some cooler themes. Best way to determine what to add would perhaps be to ask on our -gnome ml?
