Now I have tried again to find out whether the omission
of /usr/share/YaST2/data/lang_fonts has caused the problem
and whether bringing it back would help.
So I edited the instsys and put back /usr/share/YaST2/data/lang_fonts.
When starting /usr/lib/YaST2/startup/YaST2.First-Stage I
saw an error message on standard output like
cannot find /usr/share/fonts/lang_fonts
I.e. apparently YaST2 was looking in the wrong location
for that file. So I made another symbolic link from
/usr/share/YaST2/data/lang_fonts to /usr/share/fonts/lang_fonts
and tried again.
The error message on standard output disappeared but the fonts
were still wrong.
Is the data in that file not used anymore? What happened to the
setfont() calls in YaST2 after changing the language which used that
data?
