https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=357553 Summary: acpi-cpufreq fails to load on an Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 with kernel 2.6.22-16 Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: j.balderud@eee.strath.ac.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Using the online update service that comes bundled with OpenSUSE 10.3 I recently upgraded my kernel from 2.6.22-13-0.3 to 2.6.22-16. After doing so the acpi-cpufreq module no longer loads, resulting in a loss of CPU frequency scaling. I have subsequently downgraded the kernel to 2.6.22-13-0.3 and that seems to have resolved the problem. I therefore conclude that a bug must have been introduced in the ACPI sub system between kernel 2.6.22-13-0.3 and 2.6.22-16 (both are the default kernels for the x86_64 architecture) Using kernel 2.6.22-16 and manually trying to load the acpi-cpufreq module results in an error message that states "no such device". I am running a Compaq 6510b laptop with Centrino chipset and 1 GB of ram.
