Yesterday as my system was ready build up I experienced strange problems.
Video playing seemed to stall very often so I had to investigate again.
Copying a file from samba share to windows computer has kind of "initial delay"
- it takes some 10 to 20 seconds before it starts but then the speed in
generall went fine, only that the copying time showing sometimes went up some
minutes and down again - this is happening on the Realtek NIC.
I inserted an Intel GBit NIC and I couldn't see this "initial delay" any more.
I tried again the Realtek and after some more copying I experienced again a
transfer rate of 50 kbytes/sec. So this problem seems to be not deterministic
and probably more related to the NIC driver?
Now leaving the Intel GBit NIC I have 27 MB/sec transfer rate using Samba, with
ftp I've got 16 MB/sec only - that seems to me quite strange as well ...
The mainboard with NIC I'am using:
