I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary. This was just a fresh server
install that was ~ 2 weeks old. Online update and software management had been
run about 10 times. The growth in size of the db is fairly remarkable.

I will try and recreate and backtrace, but a better approach may be for you to
pull the zypp.db from my server that I captured before I refreshed the
repositories. I have bzipped it and you can grab it from:

http://www.rbpllc.com/download/oldzypp.db.bz2

It's 21M and I have 256K upstream, so you'll have time for a 10 min. cup of
coffee while you wait ;-)
