https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=355636 Summary: Have an option for Imaging Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 1 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Usability AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: fsgaston@schooltechperson.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I work with the Indiana Access Project and it would be great if in OpenSuse 11.0, if a school could choose to have a box setup so it can easily be imaged. Possibly an option during the install so the following can take place. Remove the persistent mappings for network devices by editing /etc/udev/rules.d/30-net_persistent_names.rules - At the bottom of the file, you will see lines such as the following: Edit the /etc/fstab file and the /boot/grub/menu.lst file to change the by-id entries: Call up YaST2 ->System ->Partitioner. For every partition change the mount option to "Device Name". Call up YaST2 ->System ->Boot Loader. For every boot menu entry change the root device. Check out the following link: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/19414.html Have a sysprep before imaging which removes the installation sources etc, there is no reason to have 300 machines looking for updates on the internet.
