I started with a GNOME 2.20 session yesterday. I switched to my test user
"susi" in a new KDE 3.5.7 session where I selected the configuration page in
the KDE control centre for the login manager.

I pressed the button for the system management mode. I got the notice
"Ladevorgang ..." (Loading ...) after I entered the root password. I would like
to point out that this operation takes too long to be really useable. (I'd like
to know how long it will take to complete.)
I switched between my desktops a couple of times while this data retrieval was
running. The display was fine during ten minutes. But I was surprised when I
looked back after approximately an hour. I saw a few pixels besides the white
mouse pointer alone in the dark.

I have just repeated this use case. Now I get a completely black screen after
I've pressed "Strg+Alt+F8". (I've noticed the missing refresh after twenty
minutes already.) There is no blinking text cursor like on my unused console
"F9" and "F11".
