Ok - changed to ext3 and I've got "normal" speed.

But 2 weird things happend:
*) rsync reported (more often) strange errors - see attachment snapshot2.png.
*) I had to delete the partition tables with the expert options (but only for
the first disc) and the Expert Partitioner didnt show sdb1, sdc1 and sdd1
partitions - it showed only the disc without partitions i.e. sdb, sdc and sdd.

The disc originally came from and openSuse 10.1 array manually mounted with
mdadm - but there I didnt experience any troubles.

Dont know if this might be related ...
