--- Comment #4 from JP Rosevear <jpr@xxxxxxxxxx> 2007-12-14 10:36:53 MST ---
In one of the logs I see:
(II) intel(0): 0x10000000: end of aperture
(WW) intel(0): ESR is 0x00000010, page table error
(WW) intel(0): PGTBL_ER is 0x00000010, display A pte
(WW) intel(0): PRB0_CTL (0x0001f001) indicates ring buffer enabled
(WW) intel(0): PRB0_HEAD (0xb8c17b94) and PRB0_TAIL (0x00017e60) indicate ring
buffer not flushed
(WW) intel(0): Existing errors found in hardware state.
In the other I see:
(WW) intel(0): xf86AllocateGARTMemory: allocation of 1536 pages failed
(Cannot allocate memory)
(WW) intel(0): Allocation error, framebuffer compression disabled
If you switch to xdm by setting DISPLAYMANAGER in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
and running SuSEconfig (and probably rebooting)? Just to try.
My suspicion is this is not gdm related at all, gdm is simply indicating that X
crashed.
