Solution with env_keep could not be affirmed.

No entry for terminal type "unknown";
using dumb terminal settings.

Still shows up with entry

Defaults env_keep = "TERM"

in /etc/sudoers. A simple

export TERM=dumb

stops cron mail messages to be generated by this "error".
