I ran the NVIDIA*.RUN program again (new beta drivers).
It said that the driver was already installed, so I skipped to the part where
it tries to auto-configure. This is while I'm at init 3.
It was at that point that it brings up the weird COWS interface (blue and white
character screen, with just a alert box in the center and lots of garbage
characters). It asks me if I went it to set up my xorg.conf and I say "OK".
At the end of its process it brings up sax2.
However, as I mentioned, it does not display the 8800GT, only "VESA
Framebuffer".
When I get back into GNOME, I noticed that the control center had the Nvidia
applet, but if I click on it, it says "you are not using your nvidia driver".
