- Message-id: <bug-346124-21960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/>
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=346124
Summary: zypper reports wrong packages to be installed
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: i386
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: libzypp
AssignedTo: dmacvicar@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: kssingvo@xxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: dmacvicar@xxxxxxxxxx
Found By: Development
Doing daily update via zypper.
Last night zypper reports the following packages to be updated/installed:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
[...]
* Reading installed packages [100%]
The following packages are going to be upgraded:
libasound2 glib2 htdig xorg-x11
The following NEW patches are going to be installed:
htdig glib2 gnome-screensaver alsa
[...]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
But it in reality the above output about installation of NEW patches was wrong.
Doing a "rpm -qa --last | head" shows the following changed/installed packages:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
xorg-x11-7.2-135.4 Wed Dec 5 06:03:02 2007
htdig-3.2.0b6-110.2 Wed Dec 5 06:02:54 2007
glib2-2.14.1-4.2 Wed Dec 5 06:02:50 2007
libasound2-1.0.14-31.2 Wed Dec 5 06:02:46 2007
kernel-default-2.6.22.13-0.3 Mon Dec 3 11:51:42 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This confuses customer, as zypper seems to install new packages, which where
never needed, e.g. gnome-screensaver (for headless machine), or alsa (for
machine in ISP server farm).
