https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=345699 Summary: *sometimes* keyboard does not work on boot Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Hans.Aschauer@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer The keyboard of my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro 2010) does not work on boot. If it happens, even pressing Esc won't turn off the boot splash screen (from that I would conclude that this is not a X.org related problem). When I try, booting in failsave mode does not show the problem, but, I cannot be sure since the problem is not reproducible. Also setting "acpi=off noacpi" (or similar for APM) seems to reduce the problem, but it definitely does not solve it. Kernel logs are different for when the keyboard works and when it doesn't, so I think it might be a kernel problem. Here the keyboard was found: -------------------8<-------------------------------- <6>input: PS/2 Mouse as /class/input/input1 [...] <6>input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint as /class/input/input2 [...] <<6>input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input3 -------------------8<-------------------------------- The above is missing when the keyboard is not found (I never checked if the GlidePoint is operational when the keyboard is not. My USB mouse is, btw.). I don't know if this is related, there are two USB host controllers (UHCI and EHCI) which are found in a different order in both cases. Maybe a race condition or a resource conflict? As a reference, I append the boot.msg for the case where the keyboard works. Where else could I look, and which kernel parameters should I try?
