Ok, I'd like to have the fix for the general kernel panic that went into
2.6.23.X...

heh, I bit of confusion on my side. The fix I was mentioning in the stable
queue was for 2.6.22.2 and was this:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.22.y.git;a=commit;h=7553b617208a627281cd764ec6b08070e56a4dcb

the patch you want to fix the oops in sony_pic_irq is
2007-08-24 Mattia Dongili sony-laptop: call sonypi_compat_init earlier

it went to Len some time around .23-rc4 and is not actually related to the
kernel bugzilla entry I pointed out before. So 2.6.23 final should be ok as
well for the OP.
I first noticed this bug on my old vaio that has a jogdial (which the OP
mentions) and is a GR model.

Something else: It looks like the resources (_CRS/_PRS/_SRS) are parsed by the
sony laptop module itself? I expect this could be done easier using the pnp
layer. Hmm, but I am not sure how this works if you have/want a pure acpi
driver attached to your PNPxy HID, do you need to register a pnp driver then
instead? Bjorn should know, hmm I won't CC him here, maybe this should be
asked
on ACPI list with Bjorn CC'ed for broader audience...

thanks for pointing this out, I'll take a look at the acpi pnp layer and see
what I can work out eventually asking on linux-acpi.
