I used the commands like the book which you get with the
install-dvd's "openSUSE 10.3 START" from NOVELL, chapter 8.4 "Umschalten zu
Root" (changing to root), page 122 (inGerman).
After calling 'Terminalprogramm Konsole' in K-Menu (controlborder of KDE
3.5.7 "release 72") and with the input of the command 'su' in the Shell
(Bash) you reach the root-modus and you can execute commands (
like 'chown...' or 'chmod...' ), but after leaving the Shell with 'exit'
(writed on keyboard) suddenly you can't call the controlcenter! You get an
destroy alert.
It's possible that this is sometimes an accident-error during background
processes of the operatingsystem.
By the way, in Microsofts WINDOWS you get frequently such problems during
background processes...
