Haven't tried it with the distro kernel
It doesn't
Not sure how to achieve that.
There is no module psmouse:
workstation6l:/lib/modules/2.6.24-rc2-git6-7-default # find ./ -name "*mouse*"
/kernel/drivers/usb/misc/idmouse.ko
/kernel/drivers/input/mouse
/kernel/drivers/input/mouse/sermouse.ko
In what respect ?

Thanks. Did this problem appear only in the HEAD version of the kernel? Is 10.3
distro kernel working correctly?
Haven't tried it with the distro kernel
Could you please also try booting with i8042.nomux, i8042.noaux, if it makes
any difference?
It doesn't
Does using APM instead of ACPI for suspend/resume solve the
problem?
Not sure how to achieve that.
Does rmmoding and modprobing the psmouse module fix it?
There is no module psmouse:
workstation6l:/lib/modules/2.6.24-rc2-git6-7-default # find ./ -name "*mouse*"
/kernel/drivers/usb/misc/idmouse.ko
/kernel/drivers/input/mouse
/kernel/drivers/input/mouse/sermouse.ko
Also, i8042.debug (kernel parameter) output might be helpful.
