--- Comment #31 from Mike Wells 2007-11-24 00:57:34 MST ---
Hannes, let's go ahead and close this one out. If memory serves correctly we
were finally left with the inability to do a full erase on RW media which was
never resolved (comments 26/27). I have pulled the SCSI drive/host adapter out
of my primary machine and the other machine is semi-retired (never to have
another piece of RW media inserted). In retro, there were just too many moving
parts here to really get a handle on all of the issues from the beginning. I
believe that the k3b/cdrecord nightmare was throwing so many wrenches in the
machinery that it was difficult to see the forest for the trees. When cdrecord
was retired in lieu of wodim (10.2) I believe the last of the sporadics
disappeared.
Seeing as this problem has existed since my coming to SUSE in July 2004 with
this particular bug opened July 2006 and no resolution to the RW erase issue, I
can not see any purpose served by leaving it in open/assigned status. To do so
would parallel that of beating a dead horse!
