I had to install the zip application manually. I think .zip support (compress/extract) is essential, as it is the most widely-used and inter-operable compression format that people exchange nowadays between Windows, the Mac and Linux. It is probably more important than many many other applications that ship with SUSE, as virtually everybody uses the zip format when they use email.
