The openSUSE package for bzip2 (bzip2-1.0.3-36) contains a shell script
/usr/bin/bznew for automatically converting gzip archives to bzip2 archives. 
This program is not present in the official bzip2 distribution, so I assume
this is an addition by openSUSE.

The program operates well on files with the extension .gz, but does not
recognize the extension .tgz (a common abbreviation for .tar.gz).

Please update bznew such that it will operate on .tgz files.
