Ok. You're using the fbdev driver for your Radeon X1800. The Xserver crash is
in glx/GLcore Xserver module (OpenGL software rendering path). In this aspect
openSUSE 10.2 were even much worse. Many crashes like these have been fixed
for 10.3 (Mesa update). More issues will be fixed with Mesa 7.0.2

As workaround for now you can comment out the 'Load "glx"' line in your
/etc/X11/xorg.conf, which will disable GLX extension. Many applications will
complain about, but that's surely better than a Xserver crash.
In case you're looking for an alternative to the fglrx driver, please have
a look at the radeonhd driver.
