https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=338959 Summary: kdm input distorted until switch to textmode has been made (likely a kernel bug) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jmm@inutil.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Created an attachment (id=181931) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=181931) dmesg output of the machine OpenSuSE 10.3 has grave login problems after the update to 10.3. When inserting the first letter of the password, the whole kdm input box is filled with the black point, which hides the password. After that no further keyboard input is possible. The mouse continues to work fine, it modifies the focus etc. When I switch to the console with CTRL-ALT-F1 and switch back to X11 with ALT-F7 the keyboard works fully again. (I still have to click on "login" to "cancel" the filled-up password entry box with a failed login. After that the keyboard works perfectly fine. I suspect this is a kernel bug, as the keyboard also doesn't work during the selection of boot kernels (which fortunately selects the standard kernel). This I'm filing this for kernel and not for KDE. The machine uses a straight-forward Logitech USB keyboard. I'm attaching dmesg output. These login problems were not present on OpenSuSE 10.2 Cheers, Moritz -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
