--- Comment #34 from Uwe Galle 2007-10-31 09:45:56 MST ---
I have a new issue here since I tried the first option "slow_dram". At first,
this option didn't change anything. Blank screen after activation of s3 driver.
But now it is even not possible to configure the original driver with SaX2.
If I start SaX2 from textmode screen activated by Ctrl-Alt-F1 the screen falls
into powersave mode and no mouse movement or key combination can bring back the
system - except Ctrl-Alt-Del via reboot.
If I start SaX2 -r from the Gnome desktop (without -r SaX2 does not recognize
the graphics card and does not set the s3 driver if started from Gnome) SaX2
itself switches to the textmode screen and waits there indefinitely. In this
case I can switch back to Gnome an stop SaX2 with Ctrl-C. Then I can continue
normally.
I switched off the server and plugged out the power supply because this can set
back hardware issues sometimes. But the new behaviour of SaX2 persists. That's
why I could not try the other two options. I attach the usual files again,
perhaps you can see something there. This time, of course, you will find the
vesa driver in xorg.conf. But even with this driver the behaviour of SaX2 is as
described.
