--- Comment #8 from Vadim Krevs 2007-10-30 16:40:53 MST ---
Correction, /etc/init.d/alsasound does run at boot, but during its execution it
tests for presence of /proc/asound, which is not there because snd-hda-intel is
not loaded yet, and then the script immediately exits! Looks like a bug in one
of the init scripts. I've commented out the if statement under "start" and now
the sound driver does get loaded at boot.
starfire:/etc/init.d # diff alsasound alsasound.orig
184,189c184,188
< start_all
< # if [ "$PREVLEVEL" = "N" ]; then
< # test -d /proc/asound && start_rest
< # else
< # start_all
< # fi

if [ "$PREVLEVEL" = "N" ]; then
test -d /proc/asound && start_rest
else
start_all
