Summary: permanent segfaults and freezes on P4 dual core machine
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Blocker
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As it appears it is impossible to run neither 10.2 (also as Live DVD) nor 10.3
on this machine with a Gigabyte dual core or dual processor mainboard.
Debian-based distributions run without any problem at all (Ubuntu, Knoppix,
Debian).

A minimal install without X seemed to work but after installation of graphical
user interfaces and the additional YAST modules the system became unusable.
Safe-mode does not work, either. The installation medium check was OK so this
cannot be the cause.

I will attach some output of commands made with Debian that could be helpful.
